How to use day theming, colour coding and task batching to your advantage

The time blocking template used by my CEO

Around 10 years ago, my CEO quit his 9–5 job to create his own company. He had always wanted to build his own project, and after he identified a major pain point in the industry he was working in, he decided to finally take the leap, work for his vision and not somebody else’s.

He built his company from the ground up with a small team of employees and a bunch of investors. Together, they navigated the sea storm of entrepreneurship and eventually sold the company for $30 million in 2020. The acquisition made my CEO an instant multi-millionaire, but…

“I wish I could do that too, but it’s just too hard.”

I don’t drink alcohol and have never been drunk in my life. As a teenager, every time people asked me why, I never really knew what to answer, which made it seem even weirder. “This kid doesn’t have any reason to not want to have fun and get hammered with us, weird.” is what a lot of my classmates ended up thinking.

Then one day, I read in a magazine an article on Luc Besson, the French director who made The Big Blue, one of the most stunningly beautiful films ever made. …

Mornings make or break your day, here’s how to maximise them

Throughout my nearly 2-year blogging journey, I’ve had the opportunity to interview over 50 people on productivity in general. My favorite questions to ask always revolved around their morning routines, because it is my favorite time of the day. Mornings determine how my time will be structured, and that’s also when I tackle my most important work before moving on to lighter tasks in the afternoon.

As I gathered more and more feedback from different people, I started noticing patterns in the answers. …

No matter how successful you get, you’ll always face setbacks

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio from Pexels

If you’ve been reading my content for a while you probably already know this, but here is a quick reminder about my CEO. He created his own company nearly 10 years ago, and sold it in 2020 for $30 million dollars, becoming a multimillionaire in the process. I’ve learned a ton from this guy, not only because he’s good at what he does, but also because he’s always been an open book about it.

In my past articles about my CEO, I shared the best lessons I learned from working with and for him, as well as his favorite productivity…

A 7-year overnight success story

Source

Ali Abdaal is a 27-year old Youtuber who went from making $20 as a junior doctor to generating over $1,000,000 in 2020.

He did it through 5 main online income streams, and he recently uploaded a video where he goes over each one of them. The video is 50 minutes long, and I almost never watch anything over 20 minutes on Youtube. But in this specific video, Ali makes some very interesting points about what it takes to reach that level of financial independence as a content creator, in 2020 and beyond. …

Cryptocurrency and the stock market won’t get you far

Photo by Tony Schnagl from Pexels

I don’t have any personal money invested in the stock market. People always ask me why, because it’s very common for guys like me (late twenties with some extra cash available) to invest their money, sit back, relax, and hopefully watch it grow. But I have very obvious reasons as to why I don’t buy stocks.

The first one is simple: I don’t know much about the stock market. I’m interested in it from a mathematical/statistical point of view. I like to find patterns, run scripts through spreadsheets of data… but I don’t like to gamble my money on it.

I also got a glimpse of his (very busy) calendar

A typical week for my CEO (some information crossed out for confidentiality)

I’ve already written 2 pieces about my CEO, and that’s because I think there’s a lot to learn from a guy that sold his company for $30 million dollars, at least in terms of business and entrepreneurship. I worked for 3 years with him. My desk was 10 meters away from his office, and his door was almost always open. I had long meetings with him, talked to him on the phone, even had lunch with him on multiple occasions. …

I couldn’t go through my weeks without any of these

It took me years to realise that one of the best ways to invest your money is in yourself. Once I did realise this however, it didn’t take me long to reap the fruits of my investment. When you put yourself first, you usually see results fast.

Investing in yourself can be done through 2 primary channels: things, and experiences. For most of us, 90% of the things we buy don’t add value to our life. …

A condensed list of digital and physical tools

This summer, it will be 2 years since I started blogging consistently. This decision was one of the biggest of my life, and it has brought me many opportunities, the biggest one being the ability to interact with like-minded people who also blog, and who are much further along the path of success than I am.

I published over 50 interviews on Medium, and the wealth of information, knowledge and motivation I acquired through them has been invaluable. Not only because the tips given are practical, actionable, and proven to work by my guests. But also because every time, I…

“People don’t care about the money, only the life money can buy you.”

“You want to write an article about me?”

My friend and I were at my place a few days ago, having coffee in the living room, because all the bars and restaurants are still closed due to the pandemic. I invited him over to talk money, because I know him to be pretty wealthy. He doesn’t like to talk about it that much, and I only know he is because we’re friends. I don’t like talking money either (I prefer to focus on making it), but I know I have a lot to learn from him. I replied:

“I don’t…
